Looks like I'm updating my livejournal for the first time in a very, very long time.

So what's new...

Welll I went to see Roger Waters yesterday and it was amazing. Having Pink Floyd music rattling around in your ribcage for two and a half hours makes for an awesome night.
The vocals in Great Gig in the Sky were breathtakingly powerful. Man, does Roger Waters have some good backup singers.
I got a kick out of all the crazy effects they had. There was a flying pig and a flying astronaut that they sent through the air. And they did the whole prism-and-rainbow thing with the lights. It was cool.

Moving on... I want to do something useful in July before going off to Bulgaria. But I'm not sure that I can get a job for only a month. And it may be too late to sign up for any volunteering at like summer camps or Bluesfest or whatever.

I'm so jealous of Danny and Emily, doing summerschool in ENGLAND to get their grade 12 English credits. At Oxford University!! I want to go there someday. Even if just to visit the campus and to wish I were British and taking their fancy awesome language course where you learn one of either Latin or Ancient Greek and then pick one of like ten different modern languages to learn as well.

I wish someone would let me learn like eight different languages and pay me for it.

Seven... no, six days left of school before exams.

[i hear |Jet - Look What You've Done]

I was reading my livejournal entries from way back and I realized that, interspersed between terribly written chatspeak-engulfed entries, there were actually some really good ones. Well-written ones, anyway. I think I've lost my ability to write because I do it so rarely now. I hate that. I can't even consider writing a hobby anymore. But I kinda miss considering myself a writer. I liked that.

While I was perusing old LJ entries I saw the lyrics to Jet - Look What You've Done and then I remembered how cool that song is so I went and downloaded it, even though their CD is sitting in my room upstairs. (You know you're lazy when...) I love the lyrics of that song. It's cool to sing along with.

After school today a bunch of us took the 665 and went to eat at The Works, which has delicious burgers, and it was fun. Then Jenn, Danny and I went to Centrum and I bought toothpaste at Wal-Mart which has the coolest flavour: Kiss Me Mint. It's like regular minty toothpaste but it's this amazing colour of pink that's actually kind of purple, sort of like Barney or those KidStick glue sticks that have funny coloured glue. Yeah, that's the colour of my toothpaste. Which is minty. And I love it.

Tomorrow I am going skiing and Mike is going to think I'm a huge retard because I can't get off ski lifts without causing some sort of disaster.

In other news, I'm really liking second semester so far. Law with Mr Faehrmann, whose constant mkay's and etc etc's are causing me to pick up on them without meaning to. I said etc etc yesterday, it was devastating. English with Mrs White, who's amazing, and it makes it even better that everyone in the class is amazing too. AP Physics with Ms Hall, who has been really nice so far, and I love the people in that class. Math with Mr Taylor, best teacher ever. I loved it when Martin asked him last week, "Hey Mr. Taylor, what would you do if a student had a crush on you?" Oooh man. I'm proud to call myself Bulgarian, just because of Martin. Even if for no other reason.

Okay, random entry ends here.

PS Harry Potter is not a horcrux!

[i feel | lots better]

You know what I love? When you come back from a sucky piano exam and people ask you how it went and you say "awful" and then they're awesomely supportive and attack you with hugs. I also love how they let you whine and complain for the next half hour about how evil your examiner was and they don't once point out that you're just bitter that you didn't play well.

What I love even more is the way my piano teacher made me realize that I didn't botch it up quite as much as I thought I did. And then we spent some time bashing the system, talking about how stupid it is for your exam mark to be based on one person's opinion. That was a huge mood-lifter.

I'm so excited for grade nine piano. I don't feel like I belong in grade nine after only having played piano for like.. less than four and a half years. But it's exciting nonetheless. I also asked my teacher about jazz and she played me some sweet jazz music and said she'd bring some in for me. AND she talked about jazz duets. Meaning I would be playing with her. Which would be SO amazing.

Yes okay I am done talking about piano now.

Did you know I got a guitar for Christmas? Yesss. But I can't play it yet. Anyone want to teach me? Or direct me towards teaching myself? I have no books for it or anything. Although it DID come with an instructional DVD.

Yeah. I laughed.

Christmas is in less than an hour!

Merry Christmas to everyone and happy birthday to my little cousin Michi who's turning 6.
I watched Austin Powers with him tonight and it's funny how much more of it I understand now. I love how he finds it funny even though he probably has no idea what's going on.

I have such a large amount of stuff to do this Christmas break! But on the top of my list is sleep which... I am going to do right... now.

Have an awesome break, everyone!

[i feel | full]

Today was awesome. This morning my mom drove Jenn and I over to the driving test centre place, where I got my G1. Woohoo. Then we bussed over to Rideau where we spent like six hours shopping. Most productive shopping trip we've ever had! Usually we spend hours and hours just looking at stuff and not buying anything. But this time we each bought three shirts, got Sidrah a birthday present, and I got Betty the second half of her present. ;)

I also bought these amazing pins that I stuck on my purse. Most of them say things... like one of 'em says "Nerds are the future" (of course), another says "What if trees could vote?" and another says "There's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes." And then I have five more. And I love them.

At Rideau we ran into Kevin. Or, rather, he ran AT us. Scared the crap out of us. (We also saw Hongyi!) But then it was really scary because we saw him again at the bus stop at the Centrum when we were on our way to Sidrah's birthday party at Lonestar. And then of course we remembered that he was going too! So that was pretty cool.

At the bus stop there were these two kids, a boy and a girl in grade seven, who we talked to and they were so funny. They were bored so they were playing truth or dare and the girl dared the boy to eat a leaf that was on the bus shelter floor, covered in dirt. Then I told them that they should each eat a leaf and the girl went "okay" and picked up one of the leaves and chewed it up. Gross. Then the boy dared her to sing really loud and she sang twinkle twinkle little star and everyone gave her weird looks. What made it better was that she didn't even get the words right. Ohh man. They were acting like complete loonies but it was so funny. The only time we've ever been that amused at a bus stop was that time in grade eight when that Ryan guy tried to bribe a bus driver with band fundraising chocolate so that he would give him a lift to the hazeldean mall (...it didn't work).

Well, anyway. After that we went to Lonestar for Sidrah's and there were lots of people and it was lots of fun. I took the most amazing pictures of people looking ridiculous. There's this really awesome picture of Hymn and Jenn. I'll upload it sometime.

If you burn your eyes out on monday from the fluorescent yearbook posters all over the school, Jenn and I are to blame. *grins* We put them up yesterday after school. great fun.

Hope you're all enjoying your long weekend!

Summarize 10 of your fandoms in one sentence, then see who on your friends list can guess each fandom.

Probably a lot of these don't really count as fandoms...

1. I love his Bulgarian accent.

2. She has a pretty name and did you know that in Japan they drive on the left side of the road?

3. The oldest girl is kind of annoying, but that doesn't stop me from singing.

4. Way too many characters here make me facepalm, which is part of why I love it so much.

5. This is just like what the Greeks done at Troy, 'cept they was in a horse, 'stead of dresses.

6. A quarter of this made me fall in love with Greece and Greek boys.

7. Yes, thank you, I'd love some crystallised pineapple.

8. I love her failed first attempt and it's cute when she throws her shoe at people.

9. I bet there is some huge twist at the end and the others are so creepy like whoa.

10. People with hairy feet can cook one mean potato.

Most of these are super obvious...

PS #5 is a quote... the rest aren't.

Anyone have a red tie I can borrow for Halloween?

Jenn and I have our piano lessons back to back on Wednesdays so between our lessons today we had this short power-rant about our French project. It was fun.

Something's got me down. I don't know what it is, but I need to drag myself out of this rut. Stop dreading classes and homework. Stop moaning and groaning about everything. Pedja made me realize yesterday that I spend zero time completely detached from school, relaxing and being unproductive. Even talking on MSN is like school because it usually involves talking about homework or its lack of completion.

Liza, I love the CD you made me.

Stratford! [Oct. 14th, 2006|12:59 pm]
[i hear |The Fray - How to save a life]

Got home just before midnight yesterday after three amaaazing days spent in Stratford!
Watched four awesome plays. Jenn is buying me London Assurance and Much Ado About Nothing for my birthday so i can read them and remember the hilarious jokes forever. <3 Twelfth Night was soo cool except for annoying, boring Orsino. (At the end Malvolio dropped a cage over Feste and it was so like... REVENGE.) Oliver was so cute, and the little kids were surprisingly good singers.

Wednesday night we ate at the Trattoria. Sitting at the front of the bus has its advantages because we were the first ones out so Kayla, Jenn and Betty all ran over to get us a table and once the nine of us (Kayla, Jenn, Betty, Hannah, Lisa K, Danny, Pedja, Chris and I) were all settled we saw a bunch of other Bell kids come over and they told them they were full. Hahaha.

Thursday morning we went swimming.

And would you believe it, on Thursday IT SNOWED! In the middle of October! It was very pretty though. I'm sad I never took a picture.

We did lots of shopping. Thrift stooore! I bought myself a vest for 99 cents which will be part of my Halloween costume. Danny bought himself this amazing juggling outfit which is so hideously awesome. I have a picture that I could show you but it's supposed to be a secret. ;)

Bought lots of chocolate. At Rheo Thompson they had chocolate numbers! And Danny was like, "Whose birthday is coming up? We should buy them these for however old they're turning." And I went, "Mine's on Monday!" Upon hearing this, Chris sneakily picked up a 1 and a 6 and bought them for me but I'd have to say I was completely oblivious to this seeing as how it's a SECRET birthday present that I don't know about. *nods*

...then he forgot them at the cafe where we ate lunch. LOL. Luckily he went back to the cafe hours later and they still had the chocolate so he got it back. Maaaan funny stuff.

Thursday night Hannah, Betty, Jenn and I had the best, most hilarious conversation. We stayed up til 1:30 and we would have been up later if not for our intense fear that Mr. Van Allen would come and tell us to be quiet.

Friday there was still some snow on the ground... not very much. But walking downtown from the Festival Theatre was COLD. Hannah tried to lure swans by feeding them butter knives. Didn't work all that well. Haha. We spent a lot of time at a bookstore...

And imagine how surprised we were upon seeing Mr. Lajoie at a book store in Stratford!

...well, sort of.

I want to go on both Stratford trips next year. <3

Ok. I can't believe it. I have an interview for Roots tomorrow!

The only reason they had it in their heads to consider my no-previous-job-experience application is because they're opening a new location at the Centrum so they actually need people! So yeah. Wooow am I excited/nervous.

The interview is all the way in South Keys, though. And I have to bus there after school...

So yeah. Wish me luck? I hope I get the job!

First Day [Sep. 5th, 2006|10:33 pm]
Time for the obligatory first day of school post!

So the first day went pretty well.

Our French class has cool people in it and Bella sits right behind me sooo I'm going to try and speak as much Spanish in that class as possible. Ha, that made little sense. But anyway. Mme. Blanchette and Ye got into this huge conversation about Montreal. Well it wasn't that huge but it was amusing for sure.

I am SO pumped for media studies!! Many an amazing person in that class. We talked about all this stuff and watched Liza's movie too. :) Veeeeeeeery excited. Martin sits right in front of me. He brought a Bulgarian flag to school today. XD

But Chem is... sigh. I know almost nobody in that class! I sit right beside Meisha Cole but she doesn't know who I am. Later when I was talking to Jenn I called her Mischa Barton by accident. Yep. I officially met Jenny Liu though and she's nice. :)
WE have grade 11 review and I'm too lazy to remember lots of it. Woosh.

Annnnd Pre 16th looks like it'll be a lot of fun.

I wonder if I sound like some insane rambly freak in my LJ posts. Hmm.

Hooray for free refills [Sep. 3rd, 2006|02:33 pm]
[i feel | content]

On Friday I went out with some grade 12 friends and got to meet Shelly from Lisgar who is very cool. We played football of all things. Then we ate at the new Mexicali Rosa's at Centrum. When we were ordering drinks Ningke asked for a glass of ice and the waiter laughed at him and asked him if he was serious but he insisted. Then when Ningke's ice came he lifted his backpack and took out a can of Coke. And he's like, "I have two more of these in there." Then we hid the cans in the triangly stand-up dessert menu so the waiter wouldn't spot them. Sneaky sneaky.

Soo, schedules. Here's what I've got.

Semester 1
French - Blanchette
Media Studies - White
Chem 12 - Bouchard
World Hist (aka Pre-16th) - MacGregor

Semester 2
Law - Faehrmann
English - White
AP Physics - Hall
Math - Taylor

I have Mrs. White second period both semesters. AND I have Mr. Taylor for math!!

In other news, I finally got my yearbook back from Shaan and it now contains the nicest happy note ever. Yearbooks are worth buying just for the signatures you'll get in them. But, uh, being on the committee is a good reason to buy a yearbook too.

Fortunately, I will see you all Tuesday.
Unfortunately, it's 'cause school will have begun again.
You continue.

[i feel | bored]

Look what I found:

http://www.warchild.ca/news_article.asp?ID=183

The CD features Coldplay, Metric, The Dears, Radiohead, Bedouin Soundclash, Sam Roberts, Chantal Kreviazuk, Gorillaz, Keane, etc. And it's for a good cause sooo I want to buy it when it comes out.

So I haven't updated in a month. Um, a lot of babies were born? On the 2nd my baby cousin André was born, five weeks premature but healthy. He just needed to learn to eat but he was out of the hospital and at home within a week. He's so tiny/adorable - he only weighs 5 pounds. Then just last Friday my twin second cousins were born. Two girls, Emilia and Nikita. The weird thing is that all three babies were due on September 5th. The first day of school.

There's only one week until school starts again. I'm half excited, half bummed about it. For the next five days my sister and cousin are at a Bible camp near Lake Ontario so here I am all lonely and such.

I still haven't got to posting Italy photos 'cause I have yet to go through them and delete all the bad ones.
Speaking of Italy! Erin, I hope you have the cooolest time ever in Milan!

See you all on Wednesday/in a week!

Tani
